Tree Care
Since 1997, Jireh Trees and Landscaping has been dedicated to safety, efficiency and excellence in the tree care industry.
Regular tree inspections can detect changes in a tree’s health before a disease, insect, or environmental problem becomes too serious. Mature trees should be inspected at least once a year to assess four characteristics of tree vitality: new leaf or bud formation, leaf size, twig growth, and absence of crown dieback (gradual death of the upper part of the tree). Growth reduction is a fairly reliable cue that the tree’s health has recently changed. An experienced arborist can look at twig growth from past years to determine whether there is a reduction in the tree’s typical growth pattern. In addition to tree health, tree stability is a major concern. There are some tree characteristics you can look for that can indicate structural weakness. These include cavity opening, extensive twig dieback, and the presence of fungal conks (mushrooms or brackets on the trunk).
Good tree care is an investment, which can lead to substantial property returns. Properly cared for trees increase aesthetics and add value to your property; poorly maintained trees can be a significant liability.
Fertilizing is another important caring aspect of mature trees. Trees require certain nutrients (essential elements) to function and grow. Urban landscape trees can be growing in soils that do not contain sufficient available nutrients for satisfactory growth and development. In these situations, it may be necessary to fertilize to improve plant vigor.

Mulching can reduce stress by providing trees with a stable root environment that is cooler and contains more moisture than the surrounding soil. Mulch can also prevent damage by keeping machines such as lawn mowers and string trimmers away from the tree’s base. Mulch also reduces competition from surrounding weeds and turf.
Lightning, hurricanes, tornadoes and severe drought are all situations that we face in Texas. Keeping your trees in top shape before disaster hits can help them weather these drastic conditions.
